Where do we go from here?
Easter Sunday was such a blessing, to spend time together worshiping God, and celebrating Jesus’ victory over sin and death! We were especially blessed to participate and celebrate the addition of several more people to the family of God. It was truly one of those mountain top moments we often hear about. From the mountain top, we ask ourselves; Where do we go from here?
We find ourselves back in Romans again and exploring the new life that we have in Christ. One of the main points in last Sunday’s sermon is that Jesus wants to bring the dead to life. Bringing us from spiritual death to spiritual life. Now in Romans 6, we see that same principle applied again, but with a new twist:
…We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
In this case Paul is telling us that we have to die, to come alive. It is true we were born spiritually dead, but there was something living in our dead bodies. Sin. The next step in our journey is to die to sin. Now, really we are already dead to sin when we place our faith in Jesus, we are binding ourselves to his death (read more of Romans 6) the tricky thing is we have to understand this concept and remind ourselves of it from day to day.
As we prepare our hearts for worship this week, let Jesus’ Life rule and reign in us and let the Holy Spirit continue to awaken that new life and new perspective.
